Why Is Pandora Starting Automatically on My Android?

I’ve been having a frustrating issue with the Pandora app on my Android phone, and I’m hoping someone might have some insights or solutions. It seems like every time I pick up my phone, Pandora is already playing music without me even opening the app! It’s really annoying because I never left it running, and I’m not a fan of it taking control like that.

Possible Causes

I’ve been trying to figure out why this is happening and if there are settings I might have overlooked.

I’ve noticed that Pandora can start automatically if you have the ‘Autoplay’ feature on in the settings. You can check it in the app under ‘Settings’ > ‘Playback’.

Exactly! I had the same problem until I switched that off. So annoying to have it start when I’m not even in the mood for music!

Have you tried disabling battery optimization for Pandora? Sometimes, it can interfere with how the app behaves. You can do this in ‘Apps’ > ‘Pandora’ > ‘Battery’.

I wonder if it’s tied to specific devices. My Samsung behaves differently from my old LG. Maybe there’s something in the device’s software causing it?

What if we all took a day off Pandora just to test if it’s really the settings or a deeper issue? Just an idea, haha!

I did notice that it started happening after a recent update to the app. Maybe updates can change default settings, so do check after any new releases.

I’ve had the same issue! It seems like Pandora starts automatically whenever I connect to my car’s Bluetooth. Maybe check your Bluetooth settings?

Check if you’re allowing Pandora to run in the background under your battery optimization settings. That might be causing it to launch unexpectedly.

Sometimes, it can also be a conflict with other apps. I had an issue where another music app would trigger Pandora. Make sure you close other music apps first.
