Why Aren't My Incoming Calls Ringing?

I’ve been facing a frustrating issue with my Android phone lately - my incoming calls just won’t ring! I’ve tried a few things, but nothing seems to be working. Here’s what I’ve explored so far:

1. Check Sound Settings

  • Make sure your phone’s volume is turned up for ringtones and notifications.
  • Go to Settings > Sound & vibration, and check if the ringtone is set to something audible.

2. Do Not Disturb Mode

  • Sometimes, Do Not Disturb mode can accidentally be activated.
  • Check if it’s on by swiping down for the quick settings menu or navigating to Settings > Sound & vibration > Do Not Disturb.
  • If it’s active, disable it and see if that resolves the issue.

3. Notification Settings

  • Make sure that notifications for calls are enabled.
  • Go to Settings > Apps > Phone (or Dialer) and ensure that notifications are allowed.

4. App Permissions

  • Check if the Phone app has the right permissions.
  • Go to Settings > Apps > Phone > Permissions and ensure it has access to everything it needs.

5. Safe Mode Test

  • To rule out any third-party app causing the issue, try booting your phone into Safe Mode.
  • If the calls ring in Safe Mode, then an app might be the culprit, and you may need to uninstall recently added apps to find the one causing the trouble.

6. Reset Settings

  • If nothing else works, consider resetting your app preferences via Settings > Apps > Menu > Reset app preferences. This will not delete your data but can fix misconfigurations.

7. Software Update

  • Sometimes bugs can be fixed with updates. Check for any available system updates in Settings > System > Software updates.

I’d love to hear if anyone else has faced this problem or if there are additional tips you might have to solve this. Thanks for any help in advance!

Have you checked your ringer settings? Sometimes it’s just a simple toggle that needs to be switched on. Make sure it’s not set to vibrate or silent mode!

That’s true! On some devices, the volume buttons also adjust the ringer settings. Just press the volume up button and see if that helps!

On iPhones, make sure that the ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode is turned off. You can find it in the control center or under settings.

Also, check for any scheduled Do Not Disturb settings. They can sneak up on you, turning off calls during certain hours!

If you’re using Android, go to Settings > Sound > Ringtone. Make sure a ringtone is selected. It’s easy to overlook!

I can’t believe I’ve had mine on silent for days! I just turned it back to ringtone mode. It was driving me nuts!

Haha! We’ve all been there. It’s such a simple mistake but can be so frustrating!

Did you check if any apps are blocking calls? Some third-party apps have permissions that can interfere with incoming calls.

Good point, @lyonssean! Apps like call blockers can mistakenly silence calls. Always a good idea to review your app permissions.

Are you sure the issue isn’t with your service provider? Sometimes coverage problems can result in missed calls.

Yes! I had a similar issue, and it turned out to be my provider messing up. Can’t believe I didn’t check that sooner!

Sometimes we overlook the obvious. It’s great to troubleshoot step-by-step.

I guess the real lesson is to embrace your phone’s quirks! You never know when it will just stop ringing for no reason. :joy:

Hey there! This is a common issue. Sometimes, third-party apps can conflict with the default settings. Have you checked your app permissions?

I faced a similar issue, and it turned out my Do Not Disturb mode was accidentally turned on. Make sure that isn’t the case for you!

It could also be a software glitch due to a recent update. Check to see if there are any new updates or if you need to roll back some changes.

True! I’ve had to reset my phone after updates caused a similar problem. Have you tried that?

Sometimes it’s as simple as a restart. You’d be surprised how many issues can be fixed that way! Give it a go.

Lol, I restarted my phone like three times last week for various issues! But yeah, it works miracles sometimes.
