I’m having a frustrating issue with my Android device where MMS messages just won’t download. I’ve searched around, but I’m not finding clear solutions. Here’s my situation:
Device and App Information
- Device Model: Samsung Galaxy S21
- Android Version: 12
- Messaging App: Android Messages (latest version)
Problems Encountered
I’ve noticed that:
- Incoming MMS messages just show a ‘Download’ button that never resolves, and sometimes an error message pops up.
- It’s not just one sender; this happens across multiple contacts.
- Regular SMS messages work fine, it’s just the MMS.
What I’ve Tried so Far
- Checked Network Connection: I switched between Wi-Fi and mobile data several times, and the issue persists on both.
- APN Settings: I double-checked my APN settings to make sure they’re correct. They seem to be in order.
- Cleared Cache: I went into the app settings and cleared the cache for Android Messages.
- Rebooted Device: Restarted my phone multiple times, but it hasn’t helped.
- Permissions: I confirmed that the app has permission to use mobile data and access notifications.
What Could Be Going Wrong?
From what I’ve read, I think there could be a couple of reasons for this problem:
- Settings Issues: Is there a specific setting I might be missing?
- Carrier Restrictions: Could my carrier have restrictions on MMS? I need to check with them, I guess.
- App Glitch: Is there a chance that the app itself is having a glitch?
