Wifi has no internet access on my Android - Help!

Issue Overview

I’m running into a frustrating problem with my Wi-Fi connection on my Android phone. My phone shows that it is connected to the Wi-Fi network, but there’s no internet access. I’ve tried a few things, but I’m still stuck and looking for some guidance on how to fix this issue.

Troubleshooting Steps Attempted

  1. Restarted my phone – Sometimes a simple restart can do wonders.
  2. Forget and reconnect to the Wi-Fi network – Went into settings, forgot the network, and re-entered the password. Still no luck.
  3. Checked the router – Restarted the router to see if there was an issue on that end, but other devices are accessing the internet just fine.
  4. Airplane mode toggle – Turned on airplane mode for a minute, then turned it off. No improvement.
  5. Reset network settings – I reset the network settings on my phone, hoping that would fix any underlying issues. Unfortunately, it didn’t work.

What I Need Help With

I’m at a bit of a loss here. Could this be a DNS issue? If it helps, I’ve been using Google’s DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) on my phone, but I’m not sure if that’s the right approach for mobile devices.

If anyone has experienced this issue or has suggestions on what else I might try, I’d greatly appreciate it! Reference links or detailed instructions would be super helpful too. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide!

Have you tried resetting your router? Sometimes a simple reboot can solve a lot of connectivity issues.

Yes, I did! But I think I need to check the network configuration on my phone too.

Make sure your WiFi is turned on in the settings and you’re connected to the right network.

I checked that! I’m connected, but still no internet access!

You might want to forget the network on your device and reconnect. Sometimes that helps.

Great idea! Let me try that real quick.

Don’t forget to check for any firmware updates on your router. Outdated firmware can cause issues.

Wow, I never thought about that! I’ll examine my router settings.

Also, check whether your phone is in airplane mode. It can happen to the best of us! :joy:

Haha, I did that once! But no, it’s off this time.

Have you checked the router settings? Sometimes the IP address configuration can get messed up.

Not yet! I’ll delve into that. Thanks for the tip!

You could also try restarting your phone. It works wonders sometimes.

If all else fails, resetting your network settings may be a drastic but effective solution.

Ugh, I hope it doesn’t come to that! But I’ll try everything else first.

I had a similar issue and it turned out to be an ISP outage. You can check your ISP’s website for any status updates.

That’s good advice! Sometimes it helps to contact them directly just to confirm.

Also, make sure your router is properly functioning. A simple reboot can often fix connectivity issues.
