Why Does My S21 Messaging App Keep Closing?

I’ve been having a frustrating issue with my Samsung S21 where the messaging app keeps crashing on me. It’s really annoying since I use it all the time to stay in touch with friends and family.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  • Restarting my phone: Sometimes a simple restart can do wonders.
  • Updating the app: I made sure that the messaging app is updated to the latest version available in the Play Store.
  • Clearing the cache and data: I went into the settings and cleared the cache for the messaging app.
  • Freeing up storage: I checked if I had enough storage left on my device, and it looks good.

Still haven’t found a fix!

Even after trying all of this, the app shuts down unexpectedly whenever I try to send a message. Sometimes it closes as soon as I open it, which is incredibly frustrating. I’d like to hear from anyone who might have experienced this issue or knows how to troubleshoot it.

Questions I have:

  1. Is this a common issue with the S21, or is it just my device?
  2. Are there any settings that I might have overlooked?
  3. Should I consider a factory reset, or are there safer options?

Any advice or steps I could take to fix this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

My S21 messaging app has been crashing too! I found that clearing the cache often helps. Go to Settings > Apps > Messages > Storage, and clear the cache.

Thanks for the tip! I didn’t realize that clearing the cache could help. I’ll give it a try!

Also check if there’s an update available for the messaging app or your phone. Sometimes bugs are fixed in the latest software versions.

Yup! Keeping the app updated is crucial. It’s like trying to run a car on old gas—you might just stall!

How do I check for updates specifically? Is it in the Play Store?

You can check for updates in the Settings app. Just go to Settings > Software update. If there’s anything available, download and install it.

I never knew it was under Settings! I usually just go to the app store directly. Thanks for the info!

Sometimes, just rebooting your phone can do wonders. It’s like giving your device a little nap.

Haha, I like that! I’ve definitely overlooked the power of a reboot. I’ll try it!

One time, my app crashed so much, I almost thought it was haunted! A clear cache and reboot finally relieved the spirits!

That’s hilarious! Sometimes these apps really do feel like they have a mind of their own.

I’ve also heard that uninstalling and reinstalling the app helps. But make sure to back up your messages first!

Great point! I’m a bit hesitant to uninstall. What if I lose everything? How reliable is that backup feature?

Using Samsung’s built-in backup should be fine! It saves messages to your Samsung account. Just make sure you have that set up.

I had the same issue when my S21 updated last week. Sometimes, the new software is not compatible with certain apps. Have you checked for updates for your messaging app?

I totally agree! Also, consider if you recently installed any third-party apps. They might conflict with your messaging experience.

I just uninstalled a new app I downloaded, and it fixed a similar problem for me. Compatibility is key. Maybe try that?

That’s a good tip! I think checking the apps you installed before the issue started is really important.

Have you tried clearing the cache for your messaging app? Sometimes, accumulated data can mess things up after updates.
