I’ve been having this really annoying issue with my phone. Despite turning off the auto-brightness feature, the screen still dims on its own at random times. It’s frustrating because I usually like to have my phone’s brightness set to a certain level manually, but it keeps lowering whenever it feels like it.
Possible Reasons for the Issue
I’ve looked through a few forums and found out that there are a couple of common reasons why this might be happening:
Adaptive Brightness Settings: Even though I’ve turned off auto-brightness, there might be some kind of adaptive brightness feature lurking in the settings that I’m missing. It would be great if anyone can guide me on where to find those settings specifically.
Battery Saver Mode: When my battery gets low, I know the phone tends to dim the screen to save energy. I’ve checked, and I’m not in battery saver mode but maybe there’s a hidden setting I forgot about?
Screen Timeout Settings: Sometimes the screen dims due to the screen timeout setting. Has anyone else experienced their screen becoming dimmer as it approaches the timeout period?
Third-Party Apps: I have quite a few apps installed, and I wonder if one of them is messing with my brightness settings. Has anyone encountered similar issues with specific apps?
What I’ve Tried
To troubleshoot, I’ve already tried the following steps:
Checked and adjusted all brightness settings multiple times.
Restarted the phone to see if it resets the issue.
Uninstalled a couple of apps that I thought might be causing the dimming.
Request for Help
I’m reaching out to see if anyone else has faced a similar problem and what solutions worked for them. Is there a specific setting I could be overlooking? Or perhaps a software update that addresses this issue? Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated as it’s really impacting my usage experience.
I totally understand your frustration! Sometimes, even with auto-brightness off, the problem can be linked to hardware. An ambient light sensor could be malfunctioning. Have you checked that?
You might even want to try turning the device upside down. I hear sometimes that unsettles the sensor! Just kidding, but wouldn’t that be hilarious if it works?
