Why Does Facebook Messenger Keep Sending the Same Notification?

I’ve been having a really annoying issue with Facebook Messenger on my Android phone lately. It keeps sending me the same notification over and over again, no matter how many times I clear it. I found this super distracting, especially when I’m trying to focus on other things.

Here’s what I tried:

  1. Checked Notification Settings: I went into the app’s settings and made sure notifications are set correctly. I turned them off and then back on, but the problem persisted.
  2. Cleared App Cache: I cleared the cache in hope it would stop the repeated notifications, but no luck there either!
  3. Uninstalled and Reinstalled: I thought maybe reinstalling the app would help. I uninstalled it, restarted my phone, and then reinstalled it from the Play Store. Unfortunately, it still sends the same notification repeatedly.

Possible Solutions?

If anyone has faced a similar issue or knows what might be causing this, I’d greatly appreciate your advice! Could there be some sort of bug with the app? Or perhaps a specific setting that I’m overlooking?

I’ve been getting the same notification from Facebook Messenger repeatedly too! It’s super annoying! Have you checked your notification settings?

Yes! You can modify them by going to Settings > Notifications > Messenger. You can toggle off ‘Allow Notifications’ if you want peace and quiet!

I’ve contacted them once. They were responsive, but it took a while for them to resolve anything. It’s hit or miss!

Also, if you want to avoid notifications all together, mute the conversation. Just tap and hold on the chat and choose ‘Mute’.

I had this issue too, and it drove me crazy! It turned out I had enabled notifications from both Facebook and Messenger. Check your settings!

Oh definitely! Group notifications can be relentless! You can mute them if they’re too much. Just swipe left on the chat in Messenger.
