Why are my Messenger photos not loading?

I’ve been having a frustrating issue lately with the Messenger app on my Android device. Every time I try to view photos someone sends me, they just won’t load. I’ve tried a few things, but nothing seems to work. I’m hoping someone here might have some advice or troubleshooting steps that could help me out.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  1. Checking my internet connection: I’ve made sure I’m connected to Wi-Fi and that everything else online is working fine. I even toggled airplane mode on and off, but no luck.

  2. Restarting the app: Closing Messenger completely and reopening it hasn’t resolved the issue.

  3. Outdated app: I checked for updates in the Google Play Store, but it’s already on the latest version.

  4. Permissions: I went into my phone settings to confirm that Messenger has permission to access storage, as I thought this might be an issue.

  5. Reinstalling the app: Uninstalling and reinstalling Messenger seemed like a viable option, but I’d rather not lose my chat history.
