In my experience, VLC handles 4K really well, but you need a decent device. What device are you using, Nicole?

I’m on a Galaxy S21. So, it should perform decently. Any preferences for audio formats? I mainly use FLAC.

FLAC is awesome! I suggest Poweramp for music; it has great equalizer settings and supports a wide range of formats too.

I love the sound quality of Poweramp! However, its video support isn’t as good as others.

Built-in players often lack support for certain formats. I only use them for quick playback; otherwise, I prefer dedicated apps.

I agree! VLC is great for local files, but I’ve found that MX Player works better with smooth streaming for online content. It even supports some 4K content quite well.

I used to love MX Player too, but their ads became overwhelming. Now, I mainly use Kodi. It has incredible integration with online sources and supports various add-ons for different streaming services.

For simplicity, I recommend YouTube’s official app. It has great integration and smooth streaming. Even if it’s limited to YouTube alone, it works seamlessly with casting devices like Chromecast.

Totally! But for Netflix, you absolutely need their app. Most players can’t handle Netflix’s DRM protection for streaming.

I had that issue with BSPlayer! Switched to PowerAMP for music and it solved a lot of my problems, though it doesn’t do video streaming.

I actually just installed it! It’s neat for local media, but streaming from services is lacking in comparison to others like VLC.
