What’s with the small black dot in the upper left corner of my Android?

I recently noticed a small black dot appearing in the upper left corner of my Android phone’s screen, and I’m honestly a bit worried about it. At first, I thought maybe it was just some dirt or something that could be wiped away, but after trying to clean the screen, it’s still there.

Could it be a dead pixel?

I did some searching online and found out that a black dot like this can sometimes indicate a dead pixel or a cluster of dead pixels. I’ve never had a dead pixel before, so I’m not quite sure how that works. Is this something that can be fixed, or is it usually a sign that the display needs to be replaced?

Other possible causes?

Additionally, I’ve read that sometimes glitches in the software can cause unusual display issues. Could that be a reason for the dot? If so, what steps can I take to troubleshoot this without jumping to a factory reset?

Has anyone else experienced this?

Has anyone else experienced something similar? How did you handle it? I’d appreciate any advice or suggestions on possible fixes or workarounds. I’m a bit hesitant to take my phone in for repair if it’s a common issue that can be resolved without too much hassle.

Thanks in advance for any insights you can share!

I’ve noticed that small black dot too! It often appears due to minor screen damage or pixel issues. Sometimes letting your device rest for a bit can help reset it.

That’s interesting! I thought it might be a software glitch. Have you noticed it affecting your usage?

Actually, it can also be a stuck pixel! I had a similar issue and using a pixel fixing app helped me. Just giving you a heads up!

That’s a great point! I never thought of that. Did the app you used really work?

Yes, the app worked wonders! Just make sure to follow the instructions carefully. And in some cases, the dot can be a sign of a deeper issue, so keep an eye on it.

I think sometimes it’s just a bit of dirt or a smudge too. Have you tried cleaning your screen? It’s worth checking out before jumping to conclusions.

Cleaning did help reduce it, but the dot is still there. I wonder if it could be related to the latest update?

That’s quite possible! Software updates can sometimes lead to unexpected glitches. Have others experienced similar issues post-update?

You know, I had a friend who tried resetting their device after an update and it fixed some pixel issues. Might be worth a shot!

I’m not saying it’s aliens, but could it be an alien technology malfunctioning? Just kidding! But seriously, have you tested your screen with different colors? It could help diagnose the issue.

Haha, that’s hilarious! I will definitely run some color tests to see if it consistently shows up!

I’ve noticed this small black dot issue, too! It seems to be more common in older Samsung models. Anyone else experiencing this?

Same here! I have a Google Pixel, and mine appeared after the last OS update. Can’t say if it’s a coincidence though.

For me, it’s on a Motorola device, and it started showing up after I dropped it. Maybe it’s a hardware thing rather than a software issue?

That’s a good point. My friend had it on their Huawei, and it was definitely hardware-related after a fall.

Interesting! I have an LG phone, and I don’t see anything. Makes me wonder if this is mostly affecting certain brands.

Good observation! I’ve seen several complaints from users of Oppo devices in various forums.

I read that some users with OnePlus devices experienced the same. However, they were able to fix it with a factory reset. Worth a try if anyone’s interested!

So that’s the secret! My sister has a Sony and she mentioned similar issues too. Maybe it’s time for her to reset!
