What’s up with the dot in the center of my screen?

Seeking Advice on a Mysterious Dot

I recently noticed a dot appearing right in the center of my Android screen, and I can’t figure out what it is or how to get rid of it. It doesn’t seem to be a part of an app, and I didn’t knowingly enable any feature that would put it there.

Possible Causes?

  1. Floating Action Button: I’ve heard of these buttons that can pop up on the screen. Could it be one of those that’s just stuck?
  2. Stuck Notification: Is it possible that some notification is lodged there, and I’m overlooking it? I usually swipe them away, but this one doesn’t seem to go!
  3. Accessibility Feature: Maybe it’s something related to accessibility settings? I’ve toyed around with those options a bit, and I’m wondering if I accidentally switched something on.
  4. Bug in the System: Perhaps it’s just a bug in my Android version. If you’ve had similar issues, please let me know!

What I’ve Tried

  • Restarted my phone :heavy_check_mark:
  • Checked running applications :heavy_check_mark:
  • Looked through the accessibility menu :heavy_check_mark:

But nothing seems to change. It’s a bit distracting when I’m trying to watch something or play my games. Has anyone else experienced this?

Any troubleshooting advice or solutions would be greatly appreciated! Looking forward to your insights!

Hey, I noticed that dot too! It could be an artifact from a software glitch. Restarting helps sometimes.

I had a similar issue! My dot disappeared after I updated my graphics drivers.

Has anyone checked if the dot appears outside of specific applications? It might be related to a certain program.

That’s a good point! I didn’t notice mine until I launched a particular game.

It could also be a hardware issue. If it’s persistent, check your monitor or try a different display.

I think it’s definitely a graphical glitch! I saw it after playing around with the display settings.

Good call! I did a hard reset and it vanished for now.

Has anyone tried using a different cable? That might help with a faulty connection causing the dot.

I’m curious if the dot appears when certain colors or backgrounds are displayed. Could be a pixel issue?

You might be right! Dead pixels are always a possibility to consider.

I once had a similar dot, and it turned out to be a particle of dust on the screen! Try cleaning it first.

The dot could also be an indicator of a bigger problem. Have you noticed any performance issues alongside it?

Actually, yes! My laptop has been lagging a bit.

Sounds frustrating! Sometimes these issues resolve with a system update too. Have you tried that?

What if the dot’s watching us? Just kidding! But it’s a weird thing to have on your screen…

I’ve had that issue before! It turned out to be a stuck pixel. Have you tried using a pixel fixing tool?
