Honestly, I think it’s just a glitch. Instagram has been acting weird lately.
I guess it could be an app issue, but it’s definitely frustrating! Has anyone else experienced it frequently?
Sure! It happens to me almost every other day. Sometimes I think Instagram just doesn’t want to cooperate! 
I’ve had a love-hate relationship with it since the update! It really makes you wonder if they even test the app before rolling it out.

I’ve wondered that as well! It would be nice if Instagram cleared up how that works. I’ve sent messages with the red X, and I don’t know if anyone ever sees them.

I got the red X when I tried sending a message during an outage. It’s hilarious thinking I might have freaked out someone by disappearing from their chat!
Lol, same here! I thought someone ghosted me when the message turned red. I love how anxious we get over digital communication!
Another thing to keep in mind is the network speed. Avoid sending messages in crowded places where the signal is weak. Less X’s, more responses!
I always try to double-check my network connection before messaging anyone. It seems simple, but I still get caught in that red X trap sometimes!
