I’ve noticed a little bell icon next to some of my friends’ names on Snapchat, and it’s got me wondering what it actually means. :iphone:

Is it Just for Notifications?

From what I’ve gathered, the bell seems to be related to notifications, but I’d love some clarity on this. Does it mean that these contacts have enabled notifications for their stories or messages? :thinking:

I’m also curious about how to manage these notifications for myself. Like, if I want to turn notifications on or off for certain friends, how do I go about that? Are there specific settings in the app I should look at?

The bell icon next to a Snap name indicates your notification preferences. It lets you know whether you’ll receive alerts for messages or activity updates from that person. If the bell is highlighted, it means you’ll be notified!

The off state just means you’re not notified of their snaps; they can still see yours! You just won’t get alerts when they snap you.
