Visual Voicemail Error Code 9999 - Need Help!

I’ve been encountering a frustrating issue with my visual voicemail on my Android phone, specifically error code 9999. I can’t seem to retrieve any of my voicemails, and I’m beginning to think it might be software or network related.

Steps I’ve Tried

I’ve attempted a few troubleshooting steps on my own:

  • Restarting my phone, which I thought might help reset any temporary glitches.
  • Checking to ensure my network connection is stable since the voicemail retrieval heavily relies on it.
  • I also made sure my voicemail settings are correct and even tried to clear the app’s cache.

Despite doing all of this, the error code persists, leaving me without access to any important messages.

Questions for the Community

  • Has anyone else faced this error before? What solutions worked for you?
  • Is there a specific setting I might have overlooked? I’ve checked the basic ones, but maybe there’s something deeper.
  • Could this error be linked to my carrier, or is it a device-specific issue? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

I’m really hoping for some guidance on how to resolve this, as I rely heavily on my voicemail for both personal and work-related communications. Looking forward to your suggestions!

I’m facing the same issue with visual voicemail! Error code 9999 popped up on my screen. Anyone know what it means?

It usually points to a network-related issue or an authentication failure. Try restarting your device or checking if your carrier has any outages.

I’ve seen that code before! It’s not just a technical glitch but can also signify that your voicemail service is temporarily unavailable. Have you checked your account status?

That makes sense! I’ve been having some network issues lately.

Sometimes it could be an app-related issue too. Try clearing the visual voicemail app cache or reinstalling it! Don’t forget to back up important messages.

I can’t believe I’m not the only one! I thought my phone was totally broken! Any specific steps anyone recommends to fix this?

That’s a good idea, madison! I’ll give that a shot. Can this error also happen after a software update?

Yes, definitely! Error 9999 can emerge post-update if your voicemail and network settings aren’t in sync. It’s always wise to check those after an update.

I’m just curious — does anyone actually use visual voicemail anymore? Seems like everyone just texts these days! :joy:

Honestly, 9999 is a tricky one. I once nearly lost an important voicemail because of it. Always back up just in case!

I completely agree with jasmine! I think reflecting on this issue shows how dependent we are on technology for communication.

Exactly! Do we have to call our carriers for help, or is there a DIY fix?

Sometimes calling your carrier is the fastest way to resolve it. They can reset your account from their end, which might fix the error more quickly than a DIY method.

Hey everyone! I’m also seeing error code 9999 with my visual voicemail. Any recommendations on where to start troubleshooting?

First, try resetting your voicemail settings. Go to Settings > Phone > Voicemail and see if that helps!

I’ve had the same issue! After resetting my voicemail settings, I still got the error. Finally, I reinstalled the voicemail app and it worked perfectly! Worth a shot.
