Quick Question: Does Airplane Mode Turn Off Wi-Fi on Android?

Haha, I just turn on airplane mode so my phone doesn’t blow up with alerts! I’ll reconnect to the Wi-Fi just to keep my sanity intact! :joy:

Airplane Mode does turn off Wi-Fi by default on most Android devices. However, you can manually enable Wi-Fi while in airplane mode. Just make sure to check your settings!

I’ve experienced this too! If you’re in a location with spotty service, toggling Wi-Fi back on in airplane mode can really help maintain connectivity.

Another thing to note is that some carriers have different behaviors for airplane mode. Always check your carrier settings if you’re having issues!

Great point, hhughes! Also, if you often switch between airplane mode and Wi-Fi, consider creating a shortcut on your home screen for quicker access. Makes life easier!

Awesome tip, cervanteszachary! I have a similar shortcut, and it has saved me so much time. Does anyone know if there’s a way to prioritize Wi-Fi when airplane mode is on?

@johnwilson, you can adjust your Wi-Fi settings to connect to preferred networks faster, even in airplane mode. It’s under the advanced Wi-Fi options on many devices.

That’s super helpful, tgarrett! I always wondered if I could give Wi-Fi priority. Has anyone else run into issues where airplane mode just won’t turn off?

I’ve had that happen! A quick reboot usually fixes it for me. Anyone else have solutions?

Rebooting works most of the time! But if not, clearing the phone’s cache can help, too. It’s a bit of a hassle but worth it if you’re in a pinch.

Honestly, if I had a dollar for every time I struggled with this, I could buy a new phone! But I appreciate all the tips, folks. Reflecting back, it’s good to know we can still use Wi-Fi in airplane mode!
