Quick Guide: How to Put a Call on Hold on Android

I had an issue where my phone’s screen wouldn’t respond while on a call. Turns out, lowering the brightness helped! Has anyone else tried this?

I haven’t, but that’s an interesting solution! I’ll keep that in mind next time it happens.

If the hold button is malfunctioning, using the speakerphone feature is another workaround until the issue is resolved.

Totally! It’s a good temporary solution. Just don’t forget to switch back before ending the call!

This may sound silly, but I’ve even tried switching apps while on a call to reset my hold button’s functionality. Is that weird?

Not weird at all, @hortonsusan! Sometimes, it’s those odd tricks that work. Technology can be unpredictable!

Does anyone know if different manufacturers handle the hold function differently? My friend has a Samsung, and it seems simpler compared to my Google Pixel.

Yeah, @fowlerjames! I’ve noticed that too. Sometimes software variations cause these small but annoying differences.

If all else fails, hard resetting your phone might help. Just be sure to back up your data first!

Great advice! It’s always a last resort, but it can clear up many issues, including call functions.

I love how tech can be both helpful and frustrating! Kind of like trying to hold a conversation while holding a call. :joy:

Great topic! To put a call on hold, just tap the hold button during an active call. You can also check your settings for call waiting options to manage multiple calls effectively.

Does anyone know how to customize the hold notification sound? I’d love something more upbeat!

To manage call waiting, go to your phone settings and look under call settings. You’ll be surprised at how many options are available!

I often realize I miss important calls because I don’t have call waiting enabled. Definitely a must!

I wish it was possible to have a personalized hold message. It would make those moments less awkward. Has anyone found a workaround?

True! Just be careful not to confuse your callers. Can happen all the time!

I set my hold notification to a classical music tone! Keeps things sophisticated, even when the call isn’t.

That’s awesome, scott47! Sounds fancy! What Android version are you using for that feature?
