Phone Screen Flickering After Dropped - Anyone Else Experienced This?

I’ve recently encountered a problem with my phone after dropping it. Ever since the fall, the screen has been flickering a lot, and it’s becoming frustrating to use.

What I’ve Tried

  • Restarting the Phone: This usually solves minor glitches, but the flickering continues.
  • Checking for Updates: Sometimes software issues can cause display problems, but my phone is fully updated.
  • Safe Mode: Booting into safe mode helped determine if it was a third-party app causing the issue, but the flickering persists even in this mode.

Possible Reasons for the Problem

I suspect that the fall might have caused some internal damage. Here are a few things I’ve read:

  • Loose Connections: A drop could have jarred loose some internal cables or connectors.
  • Screen Damage: The glass might look fine, but the display underneath could be affected.
  • Battery Issues: Sometimes, battery problems can cause the display to flicker.

Seeking Your Advice

Has anyone gone through something similar? I’m looking for advice on:

  • Any additional troubleshooting steps I could try?
  • Whether it’s worth attempting to fix it myself?
  • Recommendations for repair services if it’s a hardware issue.

Thanks in advance for any insights! I’m hoping to get this sorted soon.

I dropped my phone last week and now the screen flickers constantly. I’m worried it’s damaged for good. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

It’s likely a loose connection inside. When we drop our phones, parts can shift or get damaged. Have you tried shaking it a little? Sometimes that helps identify a loose part.

Could be a display driver issue too. After a drop, it’s possible the software glitches. Have you updated your software recently?

I feel you, davischristopher! My friend’s phone started flickering after a drop as well. It ended up being a damaged LCD. Have you checked if it’s under warranty?

That’s interesting, I didn’t think about that! Has anyone experienced a fix for a driver problem after a drop?

I’ve had a similar experience—flickering can also be due to software conflicts after a drop. Maybe a factory reset could help? Just a thought!

Funny enough, I actually removed my screen protector and the flickering went away! Maybe that’s something to check first.

One time my flickering was just caused by a poor-quality screen protector. If you haven’t tried removing it, give it a shot!

It could also be the internal components shifting. Sometimes, they need re-seating. How comfortable are you with opening your phone?

I wouldn’t recommend opening it unless you really know what you are doing. You could make it worse! Just seek professional help if necessary.

That makes sense! Do you guys think it’s better just to replace the screen or get a new phone?

Always frustrating when it’s not clear-cut. You could save some cash getting the screen replaced. Depends on how old your phone is.

Just imagine if phones came with drop insurance built-in! Then we wouldn’t be having this conversation! :joy:

Haha, right? That would save us all a lot of trouble! But seriously, it’s a frustrating situation. I hope you find a solution soon, davischristopher!

I once had flickering after dropping my phone and found it was just a bad app causing the display driver to crash. Check your recent downloads!

I dropped my phone last week and it started flickering too! Have you tried rebooting the device? Sometimes that can solve minor glitches.

Yeah, rebooting worked for a little while, but it flickered again. Adjusting the brightness settings helped temporarily too!

You might want to check if there’s any dirt or debris around the screen or the sensors. That could also cause flickering issues.

Interesting! I hadn’t thought of that. I’ll give it a try and see if it helps.
