Need Help: How to Mirror My Broken Phone Screen to PC?

I’ve recently encountered a frustrating problem: my phone screen is cracked and it’s barely usable, making it almost impossible to navigate. I really need to access some important files and recover data before I potentially lose everything.

I’m looking for advice on how to connect my broken phone to my PC to either mirror the display or extract files. Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

Steps I’ve Taken:

  1. USB Debugging: I enabled USB debugging before the screen broke, but I can’t check anything now since I can’t see the screen.
  2. Using an OTG Cable: I connected a mouse via an OTG cable to control the phone, but I still can’t see what I’m doing.

Questions:

  • Is there any software that can help me mirror my phone’s screen onto my PC without needing to navigate on the phone itself?
  • Are there specific tools or applications that you would recommend for this kind of situation?
  • What other methods have you used to recover data from a device with a damaged display?

I really appreciate any suggestions or tips from anyone who has been in a similar situation or has some knowledge about this. Thanks in advance!

Have you tried using a program like Vysor? It allows you to mirror and control your Android device from your PC, even if the screen is broken, as long as USB debugging was enabled previously.

I love Vysor! It’s super easy to use, just make sure you have the ADB drivers installed. Any other methods you’ve thought about?

A great alternative is scrcpy. It’s open-source and free! You can connect via USB without needing anything on your phone screen, provided USB debugging was enabled before the break.

Scrcpy is awesome! I used it to recover files from my own busted screen. Just be quick about it, though! Anyone run into issues with it?

What about using an HDMI adapter? Some Android phones support MHL and can connect to a display, though this won’t give you PC control, just mirroring.

That’s a solid idea, but may not work for everyone. If your screen is totally black, chances are you won’t access settings to enable HDMI. Have you checked recovery mode options? Sometimes they allow USB access.

I’ve read that TeamViewer can also help if you have it installed on your phone before the screen broke. You can remotely access your phone but it requires initial setup.

Interesting! I didn’t know that. Is TeamViewer user-friendly for someone who isn’t tech-savvy? I really want to help my friend with a similar issue.

If all else fails, you might consider professional data recovery services. They can access your screen and retrieve data without hassle.

True, but some services can be pricey! Depending on what you need, it might not be worth it. Have you had to use any services before?

Don’t forget about using voice commands if you’re on a Google device! You might be able to get it working without seeing the screen.

That could work! I mean, it’s like having a blindfold on and still trying to play basketball! Haha! But seriously, tech can be clever sometimes.

I’m curious about how effectiveness varies with different devices. Has anyone had success with specific brands or models? Please share!

Good point! My Samsung worked great with screen mirroring tools, but I’ve heard iPhones can be trickier with broken screens.

True, iPhones are kind of a pain in this regard! The best bet is often through iTunes or professional help, but I wish that was easier.

Just to reflect on all this, it’s incredible how many options we have! The tech community is really amazing when it comes to sharing tips and helping each other out.

I totally understand your frustration! Mirroring a broken screen can be tricky, especially if the touch functionality is out. Have you tried using software like scrcpy or Vysor? They work well for many users!

I second that! Scrcpy is a great tool, but you’ll need USB debugging enabled. If your screen is too damaged to navigate, that could be a hurdle.

Just wanted to add that sometimes cable issues can also lead to connection failures. Make sure to use a good quality USB cable when trying to connect your phone to the PC.
