Messages Not Delivering but My Phone is Still Ringing – Help!

I’ve been facing a frustrating issue with my Android phone lately. While I can still receive incoming calls without any problem (my phone rings just fine!), I’m finding that my text messages just aren’t delivering.

Here’s what’s happening:

  • Incoming Calls Work: When someone calls me, my phone rings and I can speak to them without any issue.
  • Text Messages: However, when people send me texts, they don’t seem to arrive. I’ve checked with my contacts and they say they sent the messages, but I don’t receive anything.
  • Tried Restarting: I’ve tried restarting my phone a few times just to see if that would help. It didn’t change anything.
  • App Issues: I primarily use the default messaging app on my device, but I’m wondering if there’s a problem with the app itself.

I’m looking for help with troubleshooting:

  • Settings: Are there specific settings I should look into?
  • Network Issues: Could this be a network issue, and if so, how do I confirm that?
  • Software Problems: Is there a chance this is a software glitch? If so, what steps should I take next?

Additional Info:

  • Android Version: I’m using Android 11, which I believe is the latest version.
  • Phone Model: It’s a Samsung Galaxy S20.

Any insights or troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated! I just want to get my messaging working again without missing important texts.

I experienced something similar last week. It turned out to be a temporary network outage with my provider. They fixed it in a couple of hours. Have you tried checking with your carrier?

That’s a good point! Sometimes it’s just a minor glitch on their end. Did you try toggling airplane mode? It might help reset your connection!

I faced this issue because of a weak signal at my workplace. My phone would ring, but messages wouldn’t deliver until I stepped outside. It’s frustrating!

Exactly! Poor signal can really mess with message delivery. Do you have Wi-Fi calling enabled?

Wi-Fi calling can be a lifesaver! I had to activate it during a trip to a rural area because I couldn’t get any bars. Now, I use it everywhere! Have you checked those settings?

Looks like network congestion might be a culprit too. I noticed my messages lag when everyone in my apartment complex is online. Anyone else notice this?

Totally! I’ve had those moments when my phone’s buzzing but the messages are delayed. It’s like my phone is preparing for something big!

I’m glad I’m not alone! What about resetting your network settings? It can sometimes resolve weird issues like this.

I’ve done that once but it wiped all my saved Wi-Fi passwords! :scream: Still, it could fix the message issue…

Resetting can be a hassle but worth a try! If all else fails, consider switching carriers. Sometimes, better networks are just a few blocks away.

Or imagine switching to a Nokia brick phone! You’ll have no problems at all! :joy:

It’s true! I might just go retro if this keeps happening! But seriously, let’s find a solution together. Any updates on this issue?

Have you checked your message app permissions? Sometimes they can get toggled off, and messages won’t deliver as intended.

That could certainly be part of the problem! Additionally, make sure your default messaging app is set correctly in your settings.

I had a similar issue! Check your notifications settings as well. If they’re turned off for the messaging app, you may not even realize when messages come in.

Good point, mark! Notifications are critical. Also, try resetting the app settings to see if that resolves any underlying issues.

Is your phone on Do Not Disturb mode? That can easily lead to missed messages while still getting calls.

That’s a great suggestion! I’ve had mine accidentally activated and missed tons of important texts.

Also, have you checked for any software updates? Outdated devices sometimes have bugs that affect messaging.
