Keyboard is covering my text field on Android - any fixes?

I’ve been having this frustrating issue on my Android device where the on-screen keyboard covers the text input field while I’m typing. It happens in various apps, and it’s making it really hard to see what I’m writing.

Here’s what I’ve tried:

  • Restarting the device: Sometimes a fresh start can fix glitches, but it didn’t help this time.
  • Adjusting keyboard settings: I checked if there are options to resize or move the keyboard, but nothing seems to work.
  • Different keyboard apps: I tried switching to Gboard and SwiftKey, but both of them have the same problem.

Questions:

  1. Has anyone else faced this issue?
  2. Are there any specific settings I should look into?
  3. Could this be a device-specific problem? I’m using a Samsung Galaxy S10.

Context:

I’m often typing longer messages or filling out forms, and it’s really a hassle not being able to see the text I’m entering. This started happening after the last software update, so I’m wondering if that might have caused it.

If anyone has experienced this too or knows of any potential solutions, I would really appreciate your insights! Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. Let’s make typing a bit easier for all of us!

I’ve had this issue before! You can try adjusting your keyboard settings in the system settings. Look for ‘Keyboard height’ or ‘Advanced settings’.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll check that out. I always thought the default settings were fine!

If you’re using third-party keyboards, they can sometimes cause overlap issues. Consider switching back to the default keyboard for a quick fix.

Great point! I recently had to uninstall one that was causing problems with my text fields.

Make sure that your app is updated. Sometimes, bugs in older versions can cause keyboard coverage problems.

Yes, updating the app worked wonders for me! It’s amazing how minor updates can fix major issues.

Another thing you can try is to enable ‘Resize for keyboard’ in the app settings if it’s available. This can help with layout issues.

I never knew that was an option! I need to explore more settings in my apps.

I find the keyboard issue particularly annoying when I’m typing in a text box. It feels like I’m playing a game of hide and seek!

Haha! So true! It can be frustrating when all you want to do is type a simple message.

Sometimes disabling the ‘Auto-correct’ feature can also help reduce overlap issues by allowing more space for the text field.

I’m hesitant to turn off auto-correct! I rely on it too much. Any alternatives?

Running into keyboard issues can be annoying, but they remind us to keep our device settings in check! Maybe explore different keyboard apps too.

Absolutely! It’s all part of the Android experience, I suppose. Just gotta adapt!

Have you tried using ‘Gboard’? It has a feature where you can adjust the keyboard height, which might help with the issue of covering your text field.

I’ve been using ‘SwiftKey’ and I love how you can customize the size and layout. It makes a huge difference!

‘HSwift’ is another great app! The way it allows for floating mode really helps prevent the keyboard from blocking the text field.

I’ve heard mixed things about ‘SwiftKey.’ Some say it can get a bit laggy. Have you experienced that?

For those who want something different, ‘AnySoftKeyboard’ is open source and has a lot of customization options for height and transparency.
