I’ve had this issue too! When I turn my phone sideways, the clock just doesn’t seem to go away. I usually turn on ‘Do Not Disturb’ to hide notifications and that helps a bit, but I’m still looking for a complete solution.

I think the solution may vary by phone model. On my Android, there’s an option to hide the clock via the display settings. That’s worked well for me!
