Seeking Help to Turn Off Visual Voicemail

I’ve been using my Android phone for a while now, and I’ve noticed that I really don’t want the visual voicemail feature anymore. It seems to just complicate things for me, and I’d much rather stick to the traditional voicemail system.

I’ve looked into the settings, but I’m having trouble figuring out exactly how to disable it. Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  • Checked the Phone App Settings: I went into the settings of the Phone app, but couldn’t find anything that clearly states ‘disable visual voicemail’.
  • Uninstalled the Visual Voicemail App: I found the app, but it just came back after I restarted my phone.
  • Looked at Carrier Settings: I even checked with my carrier to see if they could help me remove this feature, but they seem to have limited options.

To disable visual voicemail on most Android devices, open the Phone app, tap on the three dots (or settings icon) in the top right corner, go to ‘Voicemail’, and toggle off ‘Visual Voicemail’.

If you’re on Verizon, you also need to call *86 after turning off visual voicemail to ensure it’s completely disabled. Good luck!

Good question! I have a Pixel, and it’s pretty much the same. Open the Phone app, go to settings, and turn it off there.

You could try clearing the app data for the Visual Voicemail app! Just be careful, as it might delete your voicemails.
