Google Song Search Not Working on My Android - Any Fixes?

Problem Overview

I’ve been trying to use the song search feature on Google through my Android phone, but it just doesn’t seem to work anymore. Whether I’m using Google Assistant or simply trying to search through the Google app, I keep hitting a wall. I know it has worked in the past, so I’m not sure what’s gone wrong.

What I’ve Tried

  • Restarting my phone — That’s a classic first step, right? But it hasn’t helped.
  • Clearing the app cache — I went to settings and cleared the cache for both Google and Google Assistant.
  • Checking for updates — Both the apps and my phone’s OS are up to date.

What’s Going Wrong?

When I ask, “What song is this?” or try to search for a specific song through voice commands, it either returns no results or just gives me irrelevant information. I’ve also read some threads where others mention similar issues, so I suspect this might be a broader problem.

Seeking Guidance

If anyone has experienced this problem or has ideas on how to get the Google song search function back up and running, I’d really appreciate your insights. Here are a few questions to think about:

  • Has anyone found any settings that might be affecting song识别?
  • Is there any specific troubleshooting process I should follow?
  • Could this be version-related or an issue on Google’s end?

Looking forward to your thoughts! Hopefully, we can figure this out together.

Has anyone else encountered the error message “Song not found” even when the song is playing? It’s super frustrating!

I find that sometimes using apps like Shazam or SoundHound works better than Google. They can identify songs really quickly!

Great suggestions! I’d add Musixmatch to that list. It also shows you lyrics, which is an extra bonus!

If you’re into community-driven services, check out Genius. The community there often identifies tracks and discusses song meanings.

I didn’t know about Genius! I just use Google, so this is new info for me. Thanks!

You could also try using websites like AudioTag. Upload a clip, and it helps identify the song. It’s surprisingly accurate!

Never heard of that one! How does it compare to other apps like Shazam?

I’ve had mixed results with AudioTag. Sometimes it finds songs I can’t believe it found, other times it struggles. Shazam is more reliable.

That’s interesting! Maybe I just need to try different apps until I find one that suits me best.

It’s totally worth experimenting! Just remember, some apps might not work as well with certain music styles.

True, I once had Shazam think a classical piece was a pop song! Talk about a musical identity crisis.

I’ve had similar issues with Google song search on my Android too. It often fails to recognize songs unless I hum it correctly. Restarting the app usually helps a bit.

I feel you! Sometimes I just use Shazam as a backup when Google fails. Works great and rarely messes up.

I’ve noticed in my experience that if I clear the app cache, Google song search works a lot better afterward. Definitely worth a try!

That’s a great tip! Clearing the cache can help with many app issues. But it can be a hassle to set everything up again.

I think the recognition quality varies by region. Sometimes the song search picks up on local hits. It’s kinda hit or miss.

Totally agree—I’ve had it work for obscure tracks while mainstream ones got ignored. Very strange!

For a better experience, make sure your Google app is updated! I found that after updating, the song recognition became more accurate.

That’s so true! Updating the app can make a real difference. I hope everyone checks their updates.
