Google Messages Keeps Spinning - Anyone Else Facing This?

I’ve been experiencing a frustrating issue with Google Messages on my Android device lately. The app seems to be stuck on a loading screen, and I just see that spinning icon without any of my messages showing up. It’s been going on for a few days now, and it’s really affecting my ability to communicate.

Troubleshooting Steps I’ve Tried

  1. Restarted my Phone: This seems like the classic first step, but I thought it would help clear any lingering issues.
  2. Cleared App Cache: I went into the app settings and cleared the cache, hoping to reset anything that might be acting up.
  3. Updated the App: I checked the Play Store for any updates and made sure I was running the latest version of Google Messages.
  4. Uninstalled and Reinstalled: As a last resort, I uninstalled the app and then reinstalled it. Despite all this, I’m still stuck with the spinning icon.

I’ve been experiencing the same issue for weeks now! The Google Messages app just keeps spinning and won’t load my texts. Has anyone figured out what’s going on?

I’ve found that clearing the cache usually helps with this kind of issue. You might want to try it!

Same problem here, @gking! In my case, it was the app permissions. I had to enable background data for Google Messages. Worth checking!

Interesting! I hadn’t considered that. I should check my settings to see if they’re set up correctly. Thanks!

I had the spinning problem too! It was a network issue for me. Switching from Wi-Fi to mobile data resolved it instantly.

Nice tip! I guess it really can be that simple sometimes. Technology, right?

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app? That fixed the issue for a friend of mine who kept complaining about the spinning wheel.

Yeah, I might give that a shot. Just hope I don’t lose any important messages!

Honestly, I’ve been using Google Messages for a while, and this is the first time I encountered this issue. I’m beginning to think it’s a bug in the latest update.

I feel you, @wgreene! Bugs are the worst. Let’s hope for a fix soon!

I appreciate all the tips! My app kept spinning, but I just cleared the cache and it worked! Thanks, everyone! Definitely a great community here.

Glad to hear that! I’ll definitely try that if I run into the problem again.

Just a thought, could it be related to the latest Android update? Sometimes these updates can create weird issues. Anyone else think that might be the case?

I’ve been experiencing the spinning issue too! It really interrupts my conversations, especially when I’m waiting for important messages. It’s so frustrating!

I completely agree. This issue makes it difficult to communicate effectively, and it really raises my frustration levels when it happens at crucial times.

I’ve noticed the spinning issue has escalated lately! Anyone tried using different messaging apps as a backup during these outages? Would love to hear suggestions.

I’ve switched to WhatsApp when the spinning starts. It has been a lifesaver for urgent messages!
