Does the Moto G Play Support Tap to Pay?

Seeking Advice on Mobile Payments with Moto G Play

I’m in the market for a new smartphone and considering the Moto G Play. One of the features that’s really important to me is mobile payment support, particularly the ‘tap to pay’ functionality using NFC.

Questions I Have:

  • Does the Moto G Play have NFC?
  • Is it compatible with popular payment systems like Google Pay or Apple Pay?
  • What are your experiences with using tap to pay on this device?

I’ve done some research, but I still feel a bit lost on whether it’s worth getting this phone if I can’t use it for contactless payments. Is it reliable? Can I just whip out my phone and pay at a register or do I need to worry about issues?

User Experiences:

If you own the Moto G Play or have tried it out, I’d love your insights! Here are some specifics I’m interested in:

  • Ease of use: Is it quick to set up and use?
  • Battery life when using NFC payments: Does it drain the battery significantly?
  • Any known issues: Are there glitches or anything unexpected when using tap to pay?

Recommendation:

If you’ve had a positive experience with tap to pay on the Moto G Play or have suggestions for alternatives, please share!

I’m really hoping to finalize my decision soon, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

I’ve been using Google Pay on my Moto G Play without any issues! It’s super easy to set up. Just download the app, link your card, and you’re good to go.

That’s great to hear, candice17! How did you find the setup process? Was it straightforward?

I tried to set up Samsung Pay, but it seems like the Moto G Play doesn’t support it. Stick with Google Pay for now.

You can use Google Pay for in-app purchases too! Plus, the transaction history is super handy. Have you tried that feature?

If you’re not a fan of Google Pay, check out alternatives like PayPal app. Just remember to make sure your Moto G Play is updated.

Interesting point, Karen! But is PayPal also compatible with NFC? That’s the key for Tap to Pay!

Good question, youngjanice! PayPal doesn’t support NFC for Tap to Pay on the Moto G Play. Stick to Google Pay for that functionality.

Honestly, I think setting up mobile payments should be a lot simpler than it is. Still, Google Pay does the job for me. Just wish Samsung Pay worked!

Yeah, it’s a bit frustrating. Who knew picking a payment app would be so contentious? But at least Google Pay is a solid choice.

I once tried to convince my friends that Google Pay was better while half asleep. Spoiler: It didn’t end well for me! :joy:

Haha, that’s a funny story! Settings can be tricky, though. Do any of you have tips for first-time users?

I’m pretty sure the Moto G Play doesn’t support NFC. Without that, you can’t use tap-to-pay features.

That’s right! I was looking into it too, and it seems that without NFC, you’ll have to stick with other payment methods.

Really? So does that mean no mobile wallets like Google Pay? That’s a bummer!

Exactly, ramirezrobert! The absence of NFC means you’ll miss out on contactless transactions, which is quite limiting for users.

I see! That’s disappointing because I rely on tap-to-pay all the time. I wish they had included NFC in this model.

I totally feel you, hulltiffany. NFC would have made the Moto G Play much more appealing. Guess I’ll have to consider other options too!

I wonder if the Moto G Play has other tech features that compensate for the lack of NFC. Any thoughts?
