Chromecast Issues: Can't Connect to Wi-Fi, Help!

I’ve been struggling to get my Chromecast connected to Wi-Fi, and I’m reaching out for some troubleshooting advice. Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

Steps Taken

  1. Checked Wi-Fi Network: I made sure that my Wi-Fi is up and running. Other devices connect just fine.
  2. Restarted Router: I thought a simple restart might help, so I unplugged my router and plugged it back in.
  3. Rebooted Chromecast: I reset the Chromecast by unplugging it and then plugging it back in.
  4. Google Home App: I reinstalled the Google Home app on my Android device, hoping that would resolve the issue.

Problem Details

  • My Chromecast shows up in the Google Home app but says it can’t connect to the Wi-Fi network.
  • The Chromecast is within close proximity to the router, so distance shouldn’t be an issue.
  • I turned off any VPNs or security settings that might interfere with the connection.

Specific Error Messages

I keep getting a message saying “Could not connect to your Chromecast”. I’ve looked at a few guides online—some suggest resetting the Chromecast to factory settings, but I’m hesitant to do that just yet.

Questions

  • Has anyone else experienced this? What steps did you take to resolve it?
  • Are there any reliable fixes or settings within the Google Home app I might be missing?
  • If factory reset is necessary, what’s the best way to do that without losing my setup completely?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
