Chromecast can't connect to Wi-Fi? Let's troubleshoot together!

I had a heck of a time with connection before discovering that my Wi-Fi was set to a 5GHz band. Switching to the 2.4GHz band fixed everything! Check your settings if you’re also having issues.

Wow, that’s interesting! I usually have my devices on 5GHz, but it seems like Chromecast prefers the 2.4GHz for better range.

I went through this frustrating issue, but I’m glad to report that toggling airplane mode on and off on my phone (when trying to set it up) did the trick! It’s worth a shot if you’re using a mobile device!

That’s a nifty trick! I actually had to completely factory reset my Chromecast before it would connect again. Sometimes they can be a bit finicky.

I think it’s a mix of age and environment! I had mine in a super crowded area with Wi-Fi signals. Moving it to a less cluttered spot improved connectivity.

Thanks for sharing all these tips! It feels like we should start a Chromecast support group at this point. “Hi, I’m a Chromecast user and I can’t connect to Wi-Fi!” LOL!

Has anyone checked if your device is compatible with Chromecast? Not all phones or tablets support it, especially older models.
