Anyone know how to turn off the floating keyboard on Android?

Another trick is to check if any third-party apps are causing conflicts with the keyboard. Sometimes they mess with the default settings.

I had a floating keyboard issue too, but it sorted itself out after I reset my settings. Just be careful to back up everything first!

I think it’s just Android’s way of keeping us on our toes. :joy: But seriously, it’s super annoying! Let’s hope someone finds a real fix.

Haha, I know right? But it is frustrating when nothing seems to work. Have you tried reaching out to support?

I did contact support, and they mentioned a factory reset might be a last resort. Not eager to try that unless absolutely necessary!

To turn off the floating keyboard on Android, go to Settings > System > Languages & input > Virtual keyboard. From there, select your keyboard and look for ‘Floating keyboard’ options to disable it.

Thanks for the advice! What about alternatives? Are there any good third-party keyboard apps that don’t have this floating feature?

You can try Gboard or SwiftKey. Both offer customization options and are great for a fixed keyboard experience.

I’ve heard good things about Gboard! Do they really offer better prediction and swiping features than the stock keyboard?

Yes! Gboard definitely has superior predictions and allows for easy swiping. Plus, you can adjust the keyboard size to fit your preference!

I think you can also disable the floating keyboard by long-pressing the menu button on it and selecting the ‘Dock’ option if your keyboard allows that.

That’s a quick fix! I wonder how many users even know about that option.

Many people might be unaware! It’s definitely useful and worth trying before switching keyboards completely.

You know, sometimes I feel like Android’s keyboard options are just too complicated! Why not just have one setting that works for everyone?

Haha, true! If only it were that simple! I’ve had the same floating issue before, and it can be a bit of a headache!

In the end, it’s all about personal preference. Reflect on what works best for you, but Gboard seems to be the crowd favorite!

That’s true! Maybe I’ll give Gboard a shot then. Thanks for all the tips!
